In this position, you will perform and assist with all tasks necessary to ensure proper and reliable operation of the Base electrical systems, providing adequate electrical service, as designed, to base operations. It affects a wide range of agency activities with potential for far-reaching scope or impact. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Installing, maintaining and/or repairing electrical systems of buildings, piers and waterfront facilities. Locating grounds, shorts, overloads or other troubles and repair as required. Installing new circuits, distribution panels, outlets, lightning and power systems with related automatic equipment and controls. Diagnosing common failures of motors, generators, alternators, transformers and regulators and make necessary repairs and corrections. Assisting with service and maintenance of high voltage (15KV and below) electrical distribution systems including switchgear and cable plant and street lighting systems. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-Out Element). Knowledge of Electrical Equipment. Ability to use and maintain hand tools (electrical work). Theory and Instruments (electrical and electronic) used in shop and trade practices. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to use Electrical Drawings. Trouble shooting (electrical) National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
