Intermediate Care Technician (Medical Assistant)

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform duties to support VAPSHCS COVID 19 Emergency Response Screen employees and veterans in the COVID 19 drive thru and walk up screening stations Provide car side education to patients and employees prior to COVID 19 testing Perform COVID 19 testing and/or monitor employee self-testing Perform Phlebotomy Administer Flu and other annual Immunizations Performs observation-based screening and collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. Completes approved templates and tools, such as the outpatient intake form, normal result notes, and follow up treatment protocols established by the agency. Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting. Assists licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in person or virtual visits. Collects a wide range of specimens and preparing them for transfer to processing. Assists with patient exams and screening, utilizing technology such as telehealth. Provides patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention. Complies with national and local directives and policies while administering medication. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

The work involves extended periods of bending, standing and walking. Generally, the work requires recurring physical exertion with assisting patients. Work Environment:
On a regular and recurring basis, employee is exposed to infection, exposure to communicable diseases and contagious diseases him/her to comply with special safety and health precautions by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) according to universal precautions. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-7 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
Evaluating patients for emergency conditions; ordering appropriate diagnostic studies; experience in obtaining and documenting patient's vital signs; performing interventions based upon patient symptoms and established protocols/standards; assisting in behavioral/psychiatric situations; experience in venipuncture and collection of specimens; and/or assisting licensed staff with complex, specialized, and potentially-life threatening procedures. The preferred applicant would possess one or more of the following certificates and/or training:
Military Training Records, Transcripts and/or Certifications for medication administration Hold an active and unrestricted Washington State Medical Assistant Certification Successfully passed one of the following exams within in the last 5 years Certified Medical Assistant Exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or Registered Medical Assistant Exam through American Medical Technologists (AMT); or Clinical Medical Assistant Exam through the National Health Career Association (NHA); or National Certified Medical Assistant Exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Clinical Medical Assistant Certification Examination through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). Completion of a medical assistant program (within the last 10 years) offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Completion of a medical assistant program (within the last 10 years) offered by a school accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the US Department of Education, which includes a minimum of 720 clock hours of training in medical assisting skills, including an externship of no less than 160 hours OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-7 level. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position (Transcripts Required). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
