Principal Product Manager Technical
Amazonu2019s Topology Team is looking for a Principal Product Manager with strong analytical, communication and project management skills to join our team. Working closely with business and operations stakeholders, you will help identify and solve complex Topology problems, improve strategic planning systems and business processes, and develop metrics and reports to measure impact on Amazonu2019s business. You will work closely with retail category teams, Operations teams, Engineering and Real Estate teams, machine-learning scientists, statisticians, software engineers, and various other business groups. The Topology team determines where to place new buildings for Amazon fulfillment, how many to build and many details of how those facilities operate. The facilities range from 26 acre Fulfillment Centers holding millions of units of inventory to the building down the street where Prime Now orders are fulfilled within an hour. Each year we spend billions on these storage and fulfillment facilities, so event a 1% improvement in return on these investments has a huge bottom-line impact. The systems we have developed to solve these problems are large-scale simulations (using our production systems), Mixed Integer Problem optimizations, Machine Learning and novel Economic models. The team is a mixture of Software Engineers, Operations Research scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers and Product Managers. The logistics problems we are solving have few parallels in any industry at any time in terms of scale, business complexity and shear year-over-year growth. You are an individual with outstanding Product Management skills and analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, good business understanding, and technically savvy. The successful candidate will be an analytical problem solver who enjoys diving into data, is excited about investigations and algorithms, can multi-task, and can credibly interface between technical teams and business stakeholders.
