Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is looking for a Business Analyst to dive deep into our sophisticated capacity planning system and find opportunities to improve our customer's cost experience. Our customers range from startups like Pinterest (https://aws.amazon.com/solutions/case-studies/pinterest/) to well-known enterprises like NASA (https://aws.amazon.com/solutions/case-studies/nasa-jpl-curiosity/). We provide elastic storage scaling at a low cost. As a member of the Amazon S3 team you'll join other outstanding engineers and analysts to work hard, have fun, and create the future of cloud storage.
Amazon S3 is one of the world's largest data repositories. This role will be responsible analyzing customer and internal usage and influencing the strategic engineering direction of S3. You will work closely with financial analysts and software engineers across AWS S3 and infrastructure services.
We are looking for candidates who are excited about high cardinality analytics problems. The ideal candidate can work with data from multiple data sources and synthesize actionable recommendations. The candidate should be comfortable communicating with both technical stakeholders and financial stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will draw upon solid analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, have a passion for working with numbers and data visualization.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide weekly forecast variance analysis
Recommend projects to reduce forecast variance
Work closely with various stakeholders to define the information needed and how best to present it
Support program leadership with timely recurring and ad-hoc analysis
Partner with cross-functional teams including Financial Partners, software engineering teams, and infrastructure capacity planners
Drive continuous process improvement and automation
Ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with ability to dive deep
Basic Qualifications

years working in data management
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field
Advanced skills in Excel, SQL
Experience with data-warehouses
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and fast paced team environment
Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
An analytical mindset
Preferred Qualifications

years of experience as Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, Data Scientist or related field
Expert proficiency in data visualization software
Industry experience managing capacity for 'Cloud' type services
Advanced problem-solving skills for difficult to complex issues
Knowledge of basic statistics and working with statistical software packages
