Responsibilities
o Actively participate as primary database engineer in an active, hands-on developer in multiple SCRUM teams to develop new architecture, develop new features and improve performance of existing systems.
o Deep understanding of Query Plans and Query Plan optimization for Transact-SQL.
o Experience working in small teams with a good mix of autonomy and accountability.
o Microsoft architecture utilizing SQL-Server and SSRS in the data tier, under Visual Studio 2008-2012 IDE's.
Necessary Requirements
o Strong technical and business communication skills.
o Follow defined software development lifecycle best practices.
o Research and prototype new architecture or frameworks ahead of mainstream development.
o Design, write, and unit test database code for database object definition, procedure modules.
o Understand and apply the basic principles of entity relationship model design, good data typing practices, index management, data management, and data security.
o Ability to think analytically, plan for future growth of systems/tools, and to troubleshoot and solve software defects.
o Perform one-time ad-hoc special data extractions or studies when needed by Program/Product management.
o Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
o 5
years of database development experience in commercial-grade software - shipping products to customers, not just IT work - with increasing expectations over time.
o 5
years building for online products, whether that's database development, web
services
or other middle-tier work, or front-end development.
o 8
years developing in MSSQL Server utilizing stored procedures, triggers, queries etc. (or alternately 5
years with SQL Server and 5
years with an equivalent product such as DB2, Oracle, or MySQL).
o
computer
Science basics that come from either a degree in CS or the equivalent experiences.
o Prefer to have but not required:
o 3
years building data warehouses (ETL, Data Marts schema, OLAP cubes).
o Experience in scale out for data volumes and transaction volumes (vertical or horizontal).
o Travel industry experience; or Ecommerce experience with CRM or online sales.
o Experience with B2B data integrations work, including a variety of integration modes (file transfer, web services, SSIS, etc.).
