AWS is looking for an engineering manager to become part of Mechanical Solutions team within data center engineering group, responsible for the design and continuous innovation within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
This position can be based out of Seattle, Washington, Columbus, Ohio, Austin, Texas or Herndon, Virginia.
This role sits within the global team responsible for the development of mechanical products and solutions of critical Data Center facilities located throughout the world.

As a mechanical engineer at Amazon you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
o Leading a team of engineers in the design and development of mechanical cooling products for data center critical infrastructure systems.
o Provide input into succession planning and you partner with recruiting on future strategies and initiatives.
o Driving change through effective narratives and/or documentation (e.
g.
, Mission, Tenets, PR/FAQ, etc.
).
You are responsible for owning team KPIs, and reviewing department/function key goals and metrics.
o Responsible for owning team KPIs, and reviewing department/function key goals and metrics.
o Driving process improvements and process implementation.
o Manage complex technical problems, decisions, and escalations.
Mitigates long-term risks and find a path forward in difficult situations.
Make trade-offs related to short vs.
long-term needs.
o Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions.
o Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
o Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products.
o Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management and partner teams.
o Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
o Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule engineering resources and influence design changes based on internal customer needs.
o Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables.
o Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating extreme ownership.
o Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical and associated sub components.
o Provide product design engineering support to other team members.
o Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
