Natural Resource Analyst

You have working knowledge of silviculture, forest inventory, forest growth and yield, forestry operations, and long-term planning.

Because of this experience, you can evaluate your work from a real-world perspective.
You have an undergraduate degree in forestry, biometrics, GIS, or related natural resource field, plus at least two years' working experience or have completed a few practical internships.
Or you may have an advanced degree in forestry, biometrics, geospatial analysis, statistics, economics, or a related field.
In either situation, you have experience using analytics to help find solutions for natural resource problems.
What the job is:
As the Natural Resource Analyst, you will provide data analysis and support on valuations related to timberland acquisitions and divestitures, conservation and carbon projects, and other potential business opportunities.
The work revolves around the development of tabular data starting with basic forest attributes, then flows through processes to calculate timber volumes, carbon credits, and other values, projected into the future, and used to estimate financial returns.
Examples of the daily work associated with the job:
Assist team members from diverse natural resource disciplines, regions, and forest types, with a central focus on the creation, application, and upkeep of yield data and analytical methods.
Use Excel, Access, SQL, R, ArcGIS, and related tools to perform technical analysis with forestry data sets to develop yields of various forest cover types for harvest scheduling and carbon modeling.
Manage yield data for specific projects and general yield tables for each of the main divisions (northwest Washington, central Oregon, northwest California, northwest Montana, and the Southeast).
Work with each division to use their yield datasets for analysis.
Use the details of log merchandising, carbon calculation, discounted cash flow models, and other tools used for valuations and other analytical projects.
Work across various regions and forest types with potential travel to visit operations and active projects.
Compensation:
Annual Salary Range:
$76,100 - $114,100 per year.
The pay range listed is just one component of Green Diamond's total compensation package.
