With over $3B in revenue but under 60 employees, this presents a unique opportunity for the candidate to join a growing and profitable commodity trader.
This position will act as the junior trader on the Seattle trading desk.
The trading desk is responsible for analyzing the firms portfolio of physical commodity trades, and assessing its exposure to movements in commodity, interest rate, and fx markets.
The desk is then responsible for designing derivative strategies to mitigate those market risks on a portfolio level, for pricing and managing market exposures in each physical group, and for designing, building, and pricing additional products and tools our physical trading teams can offer the market.
This position exposes the trader to a wide variety of tools and markets, including commodity options and futures, interest rate derivatives, foreign exchange cash, derivative positions, and commodity finance structures.
The role requires someone with a strong analytical mindset, a passion for problem-solving, an interest in markets, and a drive to perform.
Understanding and familiarity with various analytics tools (i.
e.
SQL, Python, R (or other programming languages), Tableau, PowerBI) are a plus, as is a passion for learning and continuing education evidenced by an advanced degree, progress towards the CFA charter, or on the job learning activities.

Responsible for analyzing the firms portfolio of physical commodity trades, and assessing its exposure to movements in commodity, rate and, fx markets.

Responsible for designing derivative strategies to mitigate those market risks on a portfolio level, for pricing and managing market exposures in each physical group, and for designing, building, and pricing additional products and tools our physical trading teams can offer the market.

Providing real-time pricing, risk management, and structuring feedback to physical traders.

Monitoring of valuation and risk models/reporting for our physical and financial portfolio.

Properly handling client requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation to a more senior team members if necessary.

Daily customer interaction regarding order placement, execution, and fills.

Maintains an excellent level of customer service with clients both internal and external.

Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline, including Economics/Finance/Statistics or related fields
Knowledge of financial concepts, such as discounted cash flow analysis, derivative pricing, risk management, and portfolio management required.

Experience with SQL or other database languages required.

Experience with R (Tidyverse)/Python (Pandas)/Matlab or other statistical programming language required.

Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude and skills.

Strong Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
Strong verbal/written communication abilities and effective interpersonal skills
Strong sense of urgency
Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail
