Job Description:
Develops and implements domestic shelf-stable seafood sales for OBI Seafoods to meet profit expectations.
Manages and markets shelf-stable seafood division assets and implements the Domestic Sales Program.
Builds, oversees, and manages the domestic shelf-stable seafood sales program with an emphasis on OBI Seafoods own brands and private label branding in domestic retail.
Implements and achieves performance targets in sales revenues, customer expansion, and time-sensitive inventory movement.
This role will provide strategic vision for shelf-stable sales in concert with executive management team identifying emerging trends and executing proactive initiatives to maximize profits.
Responsible for developing sales metrics and monitoring results, building promotional strategies within pricing guidelines, and aligning with production operations to ensure maximum value of shelf-stable product categories.
Manages the business relationship with third party production facility(s) and directs the facility to respond to changes in market trends while maximizing yields.
This position reports to the VP of Sales & Marketing and is exempt from overtime.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Sales Management - a.
Strategy - Work closely with VP of Sales & Marketing in establishing and setting pricing, promotions, programs, and allocation of product amongst domestic customers.
b.
Scope - Oversees the sale of OBI-branded and private label shelf-stable seafood products domestically.
c.
Private Label - Manages and bids on private label accounts for shelf-stable salmon and supports sales staff with pricing and direction.
d.
Aged - Manages and promotes sales for aged inventory items to specific classes of trade for all shelf- stable products.
e.
Promotions - Manage promotional activity and planning tools for each applicable customer for branded products and reviews spending against accruals.
f.
Pricing - Responsible for negotiating pricing, payment terms, and shipping schedules of all domestic custom shelf-stable salmon orders.
New Business Development - a.
Develops new business, new markets, and expands customer base and executes domestic shelf- stable sales within the established domestic sales plan.
Brokers - a.
Motivates, monitors, and manages broker network to sell shelf-stable OBI brand products nationwide.
b.
Establishes and monitors broker goals and performance requirements and provides motivation to achieve maximum sales potential.
c.
Responsible for managing broker contracts, appointment letters, change notifications and training.
d.
Reviews broker payments monthly for accounts payable.
Other Responsibilities - a.
Reviews and approves all accounts spending including but not limited to promotions, spoils, and nuisance fees.
Supports accounts receivable when needed with regards to payment issues and unauthorized deductions.
b.
Coordinates with OBI Seafoods' supply chain team and labeling warehouse to ensure proper labeling and shipping requirements are attained for each specific customer for domestic sales.
c.
Coordinates with customers and QA as needed on quality issues and complaints.
d.
Represents OBI on direct headquarters sales calls, working with brokers and support staff to achieve mutually beneficial sales transactions.
e.
Travels to domestic markets to make customer sales calls and manage brokers.
f.
Reviews weekly and monthly sales reports.
g.
Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required.
h.
Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE AND
Qualifications:
Four-year university degree or equivalent experience.
Marketing experience beneficial.
Minimum of three years' experience in retail CPG sales Highly motivated, detail oriented, sales focused self-starter.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to deal effectively in a professional manager with executive level management both within and outside the Company.
Excellent customer service and negotiation skills as well as problem-solving ability.
Able to work well despite pressure from deadlines, demands made by projects running simultaneously, and constant interruptions from telephones and staff.
Requires flexibility, composure, and the ability to prioritize and focus.
Willing and available to work extended hours to meet the demands of seafood sales.
Solid math and accounting skills required.
Able to make timely and informed decisions which reflect established company goals and guidelines.
Solid computer skills in a MS Windows operating environment.
