Market Development Manager

Opportunity Overview The Market Development Manager (MDM) is responsible for maintaining relationships and creating JM product demand with downstream influences such as builders, architects, engineers, contractors and code officials. The MDM is also responsible for coordinating efforts with direct buying accounts in a specific territory to ensure that the demand creation activities actually turn into orders for JM. Applicants can expect to make between $90,000 to $123,000 upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for a target incentive bonus under our sales incentive plan. Ideally this person lives near Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. This territory covers, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Your Day-to-Day:
Develop and support generic (fiber glass) and proprietary (formaldehyde-free, etc.) specifications with architects, mechanical engineers, owners, code officials (commercial) and builders, developers, designers, and code officials (residential) Develop and maintain high level relationships with major, direct buying JM accounts (Owners, principals, senior leaders) including periodic business strategic planning and review Develop strategies for increasing market penetration in all major markets Major project targeting and tracking Resolve channel conflict between competing JM customers Recruit new distributors and contactors Conduct joint calls with distributors on target accounts Provide new product introductions including some hands on training Gather and share market intelligence with Account Manager, Regional Manager and Customer Advocate Train distributor and contractor personnel What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field with a minimum of 7 years sales experience in building materials or construction industry Solid knowledge of Insulation Systems products and applications Basic knowledge of competitor's products Solid knowledge of commercial and residential specification construction processes Solid knowledge of market pricing dynamics (structure, discount methods, rebates, etc.) Solid knowledge of complete market value chain, especially channels and downstream influences Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid) Ability to learn software applications applicable to performance of the job (Solid) Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (Solid) Strong presentation skills (Solid -- Expert) Proven ability to sell (Solid -- Expert) Demonstrated negotiation skills (Solid -- Expert) Heavy travel required (more than 31 days per year) Primary work environment is typically in the field at a customer's facility or on a job site; may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc. Must be able to drive a vehicle for long periods of time and carry a valid driver's license Incumbent must be physically able to perform essential job functions. Salary Range:
$80K -- $150K
