Job Description NGINX Instance Manager NGINX Inc., now part of F5, is the company behind the popular opensource project. NGINX is the world's most popular web server, powering over 400M websites worldwide. NGINX Plus is the all-in-one load balancer, API gateway, content cache, and web server, which extends the opensource core with additional capabilities. Role Summary This role is responsible for drive the strategy and requirements for NGINX Instance Manager, a product that helps NGINX customers track, configure, and manage their NGINX Open Source and NGINX Plus instances. You will be a market guide, listening to customer and prospect needs, analyzing market and vendor dynamics, and setting product direction. Your deep understanding of NGINX Plus and Open Source along with your understanding of NGINX customers will be critical to the success of NGINX Instance Manager. This is a key role within the NGINX product group and expected to be a significant growth area for the business over the next few years. Primary Responsibilities Work collaboratively, driving strategic alignment across the organization, you will lead the NGINX Instance Manager product lifecycle from definition and introduction to versions' end-of-life. Define product enhancements using a balance of future vision, near term opportunities, customer requirements, business insight, and management of day-to-day product issues. Engage directly with customers to understand their business objections, operational constraints, and specific needs / pain points. Be able to place yourself in the shoes of the customer. Develop and deliver compelling product positioning with clear competitive differentiation and return on investment to all audiences include executives, customers, partners and analysts. Perform proactive market analyses, using inputs such as:
customer calls/visits, partner feedback, analyst research, industry trends, field feedback, services, win/loss analysis, competitive analysis. Identify challenges that developers and operations teams face as their applications and services scale. Build dashboards and metrics to monitor the performance of product / solution, based on pipeline, bookings, customers, etc. Work with Product Development to build a detailed product delivery roadmap and support the development process by providing the voice of the customer. Partner with marketing, services, and sales to deliver product releases to market. Engaging with executives, business partners, product development, channel, and end-users. Guide outreach and training for internal and external partners, acting as a key evangelist for your strategies. The position is dynamic, and the role requires frequent multi-tasking among technical, business, strategic, marketing and planning activities. Essential knowledge, skills and abilities A deep sense of ownership and responsibility about everything that you work on. You are equally comfortable testing pre-release software and collaborating with product development. Proven knowledge and understanding of how organizations build and operate modern applications, including knowledge of DevOps, Containers, CI/CD, application servers/runtimes, and/or Cloud tools/ecosystems. A technical understanding of modern web standards, protocols and how their use derives value for customers. Significant experience collaborating with distributed software development teams, and a variety of software development lifecycle processes. Strong customer orientation with the ability to listen, organize and champion key initiatives and projects for product development. Flexible, self-motivated, a standout teammate, and able to work independently and lead others on projects. Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and persuasion skills with an ability to articulate complex technology and business benefits clearly. Valuable knowledge and experience Understanding of modern application development, especially microservices, APIs and single page apps. An affinity for open source software and their communities. Deep understanding of web and Internet technologies, from DNS to HTTP and TLS. Enterprise application delivery environments and web acceleration technologies such as load balancing, proxying, caching, and compression. Application security needs and technologies. Knowledge of Linux (packaging, systemd, selinux a plus), containers, and automation. Qualifications BA/BS degree in relevant field required, MBA a plus 3

$80K -- $100K
