The Public Health STD Clinic at Harborview has an outstanding opportunity for a part time 75% FTEPatient Services Specialist 1 or 2(PSS).
The PSS demonstrates Patients Are First service excellence standards by independently performing the following support services: intake/reception activities; scheduling appointments; coordinating care with other services; registering patients; providing initial triage; coordinating medical records and lab results; obtaining and verifying registration information/insurance; collecting/processing time-of-service payments; and performing other necessary activities to provide exceptional patient care and to maintain clinic operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reception Activities:
o Employs excellent customer service skills.
o Ensures smooth patient flow.
o Reviews clinic schedule daily.
o Obtains patient demographic information and insurance information.
o Provides general patient services.
o Responds to patients' needs and concerns as appropriate. Investigates complaints and works with manager to find solutions.
o Accepts and processes patient payments.
o Schedules appointments consistent with patient needs and clinic scheduling guidelines.
o Makes referrals as appropriate.
Telephone Support:
o Answers the telephone in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner and directs calls as appropriate.
o Using clinic guidelines, greets caller by introducing self and gathers information on the telephone re: the nature of the patient concern. Triages calls to appropriate staff; obtains necessary information for the return call; initiates emergency procedures when necessary
o Communicates information on clinic services to patients, referral agencies, providers, and the community.
o Communicates basic information to patients such as insurance, parking, driving directions.
Medical Record Activities:
o Reviews daily schedules to identify required medical records.
o Coordinates and distributes medical records as needed.
o Prepares medical record according to clinic-specific procedures for patient visit.
o Sorts and files daily lab results.
Billing Activities:
o Initiates fee sheet upon patient arrival to clinic.
o Tracks fee sheet according to clinic guidelines to ensure that all services are billed.
o Audits fee sheets for completeness and accuracy.
o Reviews and corrects fee sheets on a daily basis as necessary according to clinic guidelines.
General Duties:
o Assists in orientating and training new staff.
o Reviews UW and Public Health email daily to stay current with clinic communication.

REQUIREMENTS:
The Patient Services Specialist will be hired as either a 1-Trainee or a 2 depending on experience. The requirements are as follows:
PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST 1-TRAINEE: High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in a health care setting OR two years of general office experience OR equivalent education/experience.
PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST 2: High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in a health care setting OR three years of general office or customer services experience OR equivalent education/experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
