Our UX team aspires to deliver a seamless, best-in-class shopping experience to our customers by bringing the same great fashion and service known in our stores to our other shopping channels (i.e. desktop, mobile web, mobile apps).
This role will be working with the Design & Discovery team, a multi-disciplinary group of designers, technologists and researchers with an unwavering passion for improving the Customer Experience at every touch point.
The ideal Design & Discovery team member is creative, motivated, and results oriented. He or she must be comfortable working at varying levels of depth in design, and adjusting for targeted levels of fidelity in deliverables supporting mobile, desktop, and experimental experiences. The core function of the team is to utilize a design-led approach to discovering and validating opportunities for future customer (external and internal facing) experiences.
A day in the life
Uses customer insights, feedback, quantitative and qualitative research, and UX best practices to take a customer-centric approach in helping the business make strategic decisions.
Reach across the enterprise to build relationships that help the UX design efforts succeed.
Collaborate with project contributors, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to create tactical plans and recommendations for user-focused concepts, situational experiences, and interactive solutions supporting web interfaces, online communications, and in-store experiences.
Know and deeply understand the Nordstrom customer and salesperson's needs and serve as their advocate when making business strategy and design decision.
Acts as a mentor to other UX practitioners by facilitating activities and offering feedback to ensure customer experience alignment with the organization's goals
Execute UX-based projects to refine, develop and enforce interface design, branding and UX best practices.
Develop detailed product deliverables that effectively communicate UX designs and product requirements.
Maintain knowledge of design processes, tools and best practices to achieve higher quality, lower costs and shorter time to market
Maintain knowledge of competitive and complementary products and experiences
Own and execute entire large-impact projects as assigned
Effectively communicate concepts with authority and conviction
You own this if you have
5 years experience in user experience design
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Able to provide an online portfolio or samples showing relevant experience
Strong organization and time management skills
Self-directed working style
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
Track record of presenting to and influencing stakeholders and senior management
Experience with usability testing and test planning
Demonstrated skill and experience creating scenarios, customer journeys maps, user flow diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, user interface designs and final visual comps
Adept at handling all types of issues and knows when to make decisions
Efficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping tools, and diagramming tools
