Under the supervision of the Director, the Teacher provides child development services to children enrolled in program and provides support to families. Functions include interdisciplinary teamwork, designing/ maintaining a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, assessments, reports, lesson and program planning.

Essential Functions:
Regular and punctual attendance is required
Works in cooperation with co-teacher
Nurtures positive relationships with children of all ages
Maintains confidentiality and professional relationships with families
Plans, designs, implements, and maintains developmentally appropriate classroom
Designs and implements timely and developmentally appropriate lesson plans
Prepares assessments, program plans, summary reports, data management as required by the program
Participates in events such as staffing, staff meetings, and conferences designed to ensure a quality early learning program
Gives direction to aides and volunteers assigned to classroom
Gives direction and training to substitutes and floaters
Ensures teamwork with interdisciplinary team members (e.g. therapists)
Develops supportive relationship with family members
Provides support to co-teacher and assistant in classroom team
Makes decisions within the limits of early childhood program
Exercises independent judgment
Takes initiative to complete training and on going education
Takes responsibility for all aspects of classroom planning and implementation
Understanding and accepting towards the needs of people with special needs
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Other Functions:
As Assigned
Education:
Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education with two (2) years experience; Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis on Early Childhood education or related field
CDA with three (3) years experience working with children, ages birth to six relative to position
Must have CPR and first aid certification and blood borne pathogens training
20 hour STARS Certification required within 6 months of hire
10 hours annual STARS continuing education
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated understanding of child development, ages birth to six
Demonstrated understanding of impact of disabilities on typical child development
Demonstrated appropriate child behavior management skills
Able to communicate clearly in English in oral and written form
Team player with bias toward positive motivation and demonstrated collaborative approach to teaching/decision making
Customer service orientation and sensitivity to mission of agency
Contact with Others:
Daily contact with families and staff
Supervision Received:
Under general supervision, manages own schedule, integrating co-worker's schedule for benefit of smooth program operations and in efficient manner
Scope & Impact:
Exercises independent judgment within the limits of early learning program policies.

Must be focused on children at all times. Flexibility in schedule, subject to fast paced environments with frequent changes to schedule.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
